Rossiya cinema and how it became a shopping mall

It’s a big shopping mall located near the metro station Zoravar Andranik called Rossia mall, which was opened in 2016 and is considered the first shopping mall situated right in city center. The place was originally a cinema with the same name and it was considered the biggest in Armenia, accommodating 2500 visitors. Cinema Rossiya was built to resemble the lower and higher peaks of the revered Armenian symbol of Mt. Ararat. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the cinema was abandoned, and then in the 1990s, commercial tents were set up here. Over time, Russia has become a shopping centre.

Now, it’s a large shopping mall, where shopping for all members of your family can be accompanied by fun. Russia Mall has a very convenient geographical location. For the convenience of customers, the mall has 5 entrances from Tigran Mets, Khorenatsi streets, as well as direct access from Zoravar Andranik metro station. Russia Mall consists of seven floors, where many local and foreign brands for women, men, children and babies are located, a beauty salon, a branch of Armeconombank, which operates all days of the week from 10:00 to 22:00, a pharmacy and a cafe. There is a Food Hall with operators offering cuisines from different countries and a playground on the sixth floor for your kids. In Play space you can find a children’s cafe and a children’s restaurant.

The environment is very friendly as well as the workers, who are always eager to help you whenever you need an advice with shopping. You can find information centers on every floor whenever you want to ask questions about the stores or entertainment centers.

And the visitors always feel comfortable and joyful in the centre as it contains both historical and modern parts of buildings, each with its unique beauty and history.

Gaming addiction: A growing health concern

Gaming addiction, also known as gaming disorder, is a significant and growing concern in modern society, particularly with the widespread availability of video games on various platforms such as consoles, computers, and mobile devices. This addiction shares similarities with cryptocurrency addiction and other forms of behavioral addiction, characterized by compulsive engagement, withdrawal symptoms, and negative impacts on various aspects of an individual’s life.

Prevalence and Accessibility

Gaming addiction has become increasingly prevalent due to the accessibility and convenience of video games. With advancements in technology and the proliferation of online gaming communities, individuals can easily immerse themselves in virtual worlds for hours on end. The widespread availability of games across multiple platforms means that anyone with a smartphone, computer, or gaming console can potentially develop an addiction.

Compulsive Behavior

Similar to cryptocurrency trading addicts who obsessively monitor market fluctuations, gamers with addiction may exhibit compulsive behavior, such as spending excessive amounts of time playing games, neglecting other responsibilities and activities, and experiencing difficulty in controlling gaming habits. They may prioritize gaming over social interactions, work or school commitments, and even basic self-care activities.

The Power of Community Service: Building a Better Society through Volunteerism

In our complex world, providing community service stands out as a powerful way to make our society stronger and more caring. At first, we don’t seem to notice how volunteering can create positive change by bringing people together, addressing big challenges, and developing values like understanding and unity. Being an active volunteer in various organizations and events for nearly six months now, I can assure that one who truly understands the meaning of community service and volunteering, can have a big self-improvement and strong influence on the society.

Volunteering doesn’t just mean willing to support or help an organization or some event. It isn’t only about receiving a certificate as an award. As a volunteer, you must value every part of your work, starting from your responsibilities, making new friends, practicing your skills and, of course, having a certificate which is equally important.

In addition, volunteering develops a number of skills in you such as communication, initiative, organization, teamwork, leadership and many others that are strongly required in nowadays work community. After months of volunteering work, you can already see your personal growth and development. But let’s analyze how we can express ourselves and develop those skills in order to have a benefit and build a better society through it.

Unusual rules in different environments

As in everyday life we come across some weird, absurd and funny rules that are observed in different environments like offices, schools, companies or even in relationships. So, I made up some strict, absurd and very funny rules observing in those environments and platforms. But of course, I also wrote the reasons those rules are made and how they can have a benefit.

Rules in companies and offices

  • All employees must come dressed as their favorite fictional character every Wednesday. This fosters a creative and fun work environment.
  • Employees are required to surprise a colleague with coffee at least once a week. This builds camaraderie and ensures everyone stays caffeinated.
  • Employees must switch desks every week without notifying their colleagues. This promotes adaptability and keeps everyone on their toes.
  • In companies, after lunch, everyone must take a 20-minute nap. Studies show it boosts productivity and overall well-being.
  • Every employee must have at least one plant on their desk. The best-maintained plant is recognized monthly.

Business English Role Plays: Nothing to Do

Manager: Hey there, what’s going on? I couldn’t help but notice you seem to be taking it easy with your feet up. Don’t you have anything to do?

Employee: Oh, hey boss. I’ve actually finished all of my work for today. I even offered to help others, but they said they didn’t need any assistance.

Manager: Finished all your work already? There’s always something that needs attention. Why don’t you help the others or find something productive to do?

Employee: I get that, but seriously, I’ve asked around. Everyone seems to have things under control. There’s absolutely nothing to do at the moment.

Manager: Look, I get it, but it doesn’t send a good message if anyone, especially the CEO, sees you just lounging around. You know the higher-ups expect everyone to be hard at work all the time. If they see someone lazying around, it reflects poorly on all of us, including me.

Employee: I understand, and I’m all for staying productive, but what can I do more if there’s genuinely nothing left to do? I don’t want to create more work just to look busy.

Manager: I know it might seem slow now, but there’s always something that needs improvement or a project that could use some extra attention. Take the initiative and find ways to contribute. It’ll benefit us all in the long run.

Employee: I understand it, boss, I’ll make an effort to look more occupied. But I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes or create more problems. If you have a specific task or project in mind, I’m all for it.

Manager: I appreciate your willingness to help. Let me check if there’s anything on the plans that you can take on. Just try to stay engaged and active, alright? It’s for the good of the team. We want to be seen as a team that’s always on top of things.

Employee: Absolutely, boss. I’m here to contribute, so just let me know if there’s anything I can do.

Cultural events in Armenia

Important traditional ceremony or cultural event in my country

Out of the many traditional events and ceremonies in my country, I want to speak about one of the most joyful, fun and interesting cultural event called Vardavar.

Vardavar is an Armenian festival with ancient roots, celebrated annually to mark the transfiguration of Jesus Christ. It typically falls 98 days after Easter, which places it in July. The festival has early origins related to the worship of Astghik, the Armenian goddess of love, beauty and water.

During Vardavar, people engage in a unique tradition of dousing each other with water, symbolizing purification and renewal. Streets and public spaces become lively as participants, armed with water balloons, buckets, and water guns, joyfully splash water on friends, family, and even strangers. This communal water fight is a central and much-anticipated aspect of Vardavar, bringing people together in a spirit of shared joy and celebration.

In addition to the water festivities, Armenians also attend church services, partake in traditional foods, and engage in various cultural events during Vardavar. The festival holds deep cultural and historical significance, combining Christian and pagan elements in a celebration of life, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil.

Taking part in Vardavar

It is quite fun and joyful to participate in Vardavar as all the Armenians around the country prepare their water guns, balloons and buckets filled with water, ready to splash it on others. I have participated in Vardavar many times, especially when I was around 6-10, but now I hardly manage to take part in it, as every year on the day of the event I’m having some kind of important meetings or work to do, so I avoid getting splashed and wet by the people on the streets…which is very hard to be honest.

Problem solving

Our problem involves irresponsible children crossing their boundaries. So, you know that often after the classes are over, children or students from the neighborhood often gather around the school building and throw rocks on our windows. For years, the school couldn’t get rid of this problem and wasn’t able to solve it.

So, here we suggest a few things to do which can help us solve the problem.

School security: We should start by installing cameras around the school grounds. These cameras can provide valuable evidence if such incidents occur and help us find the children faster. Alongside this, we can consider putting fencing or barriers to prevent unauthorized access to the school property.
We should involve the local community: Involve the local community in addressing this issue. Organize meetings or workshops with parents, teachers, and local residents to create awareness about the importance of respecting school property. Emphasize the potential safety risks and financial burden such actions can cause.
Open Dialogue: The school should hold open and trusting dialogue with the students themselves. Try to understand their motivations and concerns. Encourage them to express their grievances or frustrations through more constructive means, like participating in school clubs or committees.
Consequences: Clearly communicate the consequences of damaging school property. Ensure that there are established disciplinary measures in place for those caught in such acts.
By combining these strategies, you can work towards preventing future incidents and creating a more secure and respectful environment for your school.

The Boredom Epidemic: Is Modern Life Making Us More Bored?

Boredom, once a sporadic and temporary emotion, is increasingly becoming a pervasive phenomenon in modern society. The rise of technology, the fast-paced nature of contemporary life, and the constant barrage of information have given birth to what some describe as the “boredom epidemic.” This essay explores the various facets of this phenomenon, examining the types of boredom that afflict individuals and investigating whether modern life is, indeed, making us more prone to boredom.

Types of Boredom

Boredom is not a monolithic experience; rather, it manifests in various forms. The first type is “reactant boredom,” which arises from feeling constrained or forced into a situation. This often occurs when individuals perceive their freedom of choice to be limited, leading to a sense of restlessness and dissatisfaction. The second type, “apathetic boredom,” is characterized by a lack of interest or motivation. This form of boredom is prevalent in situations where individuals find the activity or environment unstimulating or unengaging. Lastly, “searching boredom” occurs when individuals are actively seeking something to do but are unable to find a satisfying activity.

Modern Life and the Boredom Epidemic

The rapid advancements in technology and the increasing demands of modern life have significantly contributed to the prevalence of boredom. The constant connectivity provided by smartphones and the internet, while enhancing communication and access to information, also means that individuals are seldom left alone with their thoughts. This constant stimulation, paradoxically, can lead to a diminished ability to find satisfaction in more mundane or solitary activities, contributing to feelings of boredom.
